Life In Color: An Amazing Boy Layout by Kathy

Hello From the Far North!!!
Oh my goodness, the new Scraps of Darkness
March Kit, "Boys Will Be Boys" is out, but unfortunate sold out, but you can subscribe for future kits here !

Now this has got to be my favorite kit so far that Melinda has put together for us.  It is absolutely perfect for mixed media, little boys, etc., etc.,   It is chocked full of Blue Fern Studies "Chesterville" collection and Bo Bunny's "Life in Color" collection.  Absolutely love them both.  You get TONS of embellishments and bits and pieces.

My first layout using this wonderful kit features my first grandson, Chase, on his first day of school for the second grade.  I could not believe how tall he has grown.  Brought tears to my eyes.  What a handsome dude!!!  I wanted to create a grungy, mod, pop page and the Bo Bunny papers are perfect, they matched the colors of clothes exactly.

The background papers from Bo Bunny and are included in the Coordinating Paper Add On.  I used the new Gabrielle Pollacco "Line Stitch" stamp you can find in the Creativity Add on around the edges.  I did a lot of distressing and added some black notebook punch paper under the tears, which I stapled down.

To create my stamped, gessoed and paint splattered background I used the Art Stamp (circles) included in the Elements Add On.  I splattered some Lindy's "Sapphire" plus some black ink.  I filled in some of the circles using the Tim Holtz Distress Crayon "Salty Ocean" included in the Main Kit.  I decided to add the little gems as a finishing touch after the layout was finished.

I used the Blue Fern Studies chipboard as the focus of the layout.  I purchased it at the Scraps of Darkness Store here.  I inked it with Ranger's Black Archival ink then added some turquoise glitter paste that I got in a previous kit.  Next I cut background circles to fill in the chipboard circle shapes, using the Bo Bunny Misc Me note cards in the Main Kit.  I decided to use the clear stickers, also from Bo Bunny in various places in the circles (Elements Add On).  I think they give a nice touch.  I also added the stickers to the pictures.

I fussy cut the sentiment from one of the label papers in the Bo Bunny collection.  Chase is a pretty shy little guy, and is having trouble this year in school.  Grandma is always trying to build up his confidence, so this phrase was perfect.  I also added another note card to the right side, which is similar to what I am always telling him...."Chase you are very smart, you just don't believe it yet, but you will!"

To the left side of the photo I used the "Awesome" phrase that is printed on the washi tape included in the Elements Add On.  Love that tape!  I also added another clear sticker from Bo Bunny.  A final touch.

I love doing masculine layouts!!  It just takes me some time to switch gears from the shabby, feminine style I also like to create.  And did you notice....not one single flower LOLO!!!

That's it for me this week......I hope you enjoyed your visit!!!    Have a great week everyone, and till next time here is a great Big Alaska Bear Hug coming from your Momma Bear!!!
